Anyway, I was watching last night and Chief Matthews was checking the teletype machine when a bank robbery report came over the line (This should be at 1:33 on the video below). He immediately tells one of the officers to come over as he went to one of the wall maps to lay out his plan for road blocks and what have you. He swings out a map (approximately 1:40 - 1:50) and begins to draw circles and announce road blocks.
Well, the map he pulls out is of Texas, the Big Bend area of Texas no less. Chief Dan draws a circle around Cresdale (Where the robbery occurred) and then decides to draw a circle around "the east end of town.) Turns out that Crestdale is really Alpine, TX and "the east end of town" is really Marathon, TX. In reality the 2 towns are 20 miles apart and separated by the Glass Mountains.
For the next about four and a half minutes the Highway Patrol locates the getaway car and discuss there next plans. Then at about 6:28 in the video the show cuts to the robbers.....on the beach, as in the ocean type of beach. Not a lake or a river. Have you looked at the Big Bend area of Texas? No ocean type beaches anywhere near.The closest might be the Gulf of Mexico. I guess Chief Dan and his band of troopers get around.
Anyway, I've embedded the episode courtesy of xfinitytv & Hulu. You'll have to endure some commercials but everything I bring up is in the first 7 minutes. Enjoy it though. By the way, this is Episode 19 of Season 1 for Highway Patrol.
