I have sad news to report today. Sunday afternoon the small kitten which Jess found in our driveway, and which Julie had undertaken the task of nurturing passed away yesterday. Julie had reported late yesterday morning that she had noticed that the kitten was having labored breathing and did not appear to be interested in the formula. It was a very sad time around the house when the little one died and it hit Julie very hard because she had devoted the the most part of the last four days to its care. I know that it is no consolation to Julie now, but I was very proud of her for the love and care that she gave the kitten. I know that even though the kitten died, its death was much easier than if it had been left to the heat and other dangers.

In honor of this little one, I have posted a few pictures of some of our other beloved pets that we have "lost".

The two pictures above were of Snowy. He was our Maine Coon Cat that Julie got when she was in the first grade. He died 3 years ago.

The two pictures above are of the three ducks that we got several years ago at Easter time. The two darker ducks died after several months. The yellow duckling was Ferdy. She grew up to become a beautiful white duck. Ferdy lived for more than a year but died shortly after we moved to Waco.

This picture was Molly, my Black Lab. We got her as a pup in Dickinson. She saw many moves and was a trooper. She passed away after 14 years.

Here We Go Again

Well, you can tell that school is getting ready to start. At least I can tell! Even though my contract start date is August 18th, I have been to school several times in order to get my classroom ready. Because of this I have recently had less time to blog.

At the end of school teachers generally have to "disassemble" their classrooms and put things away. One never can tell what might happen to things, especially if your room ends up being used for summer school or workshops.

This week I had to rearrange the tables in my room because they were used for training in another room. The tables that were returned to my room were not mine. They were the wrong size and had to be adjusted for my little ones. It actually worked out for the best though. I now have tables that are a uniform size and allows me more flexibility in arrangement. I also got an extra table and ended up making a listening center.

In addition to the extra time at school I have been having to get my materials ready. And yes, for a kindergarten teacher that means a lot of coloring, cutting, and laminating; and then more cutting. After all of this then I have to go back to school and put away, arrange some more, decorate the room, and generally try to get as much done as possible.....Because, Meet the Teacher Night is on August 19th. That's right, the second day back. So that means that I will need to get my roster as quick as I can (normally the Thursday or Friday before we report for work) so that I can prepare for the parent's.

And so begins another race that lasts for 36 weeks; some long some short, but all of them fulfilling.

Cool Kitty Pix

I have posted the pictures of our new kitten on my other blog, Visions of My World. I invite to follow the above link to the blog and pictures.

By the way, the newborn appears to be doing fine. The biggest challenge has been keeping up with its toileting needs since those functions are not fully functional yet.

One Cool Kitty

I was really stuck for something to write about this AM, so I went to school to get ready for the new year. After I had been there for a few hours I got a phone call. the call was from Chris. She wanted to tell me something that had just happened at the house. I decided that this would be a great thing to write about.

So here goes. Jess brought Jace over to the house this morning so she could go to work. After she parked and got out of the car she heard something making a little noise. She investigated and finally found a kitten in the drive way. The little guy appeared to have been relatively newborn. It still had the umbilical cord and still had some of the afterbirth on it. The guess is that the momma had it nearby and was moving it to a safer location and perhaps was scared away when Jess drove up.

Fortunately Jess had to work early this morning. If she had had to go in lkater this afternoon the poor little thing would have had a rough time in the afternoon heat around here.

So Julie is playing Momma Cat now. I bought some kitten formula and a kitten bottle for Julie to use. Julie said the kitten has eaten and is snoozing right now. I will get some pictures of it later and post for all to see.

Busy day today. I have been taking advantage of many of the recent downloads from Giveaway of the Day (GOTD) that I have a link to near the bottom of my blog page on the left hand sidebar. Because of this my blog has been late today.

Some of the recent downloads that I have been able to take advantage of now that all of my computer issues have been resolved are XTweak (Retail $26.95), Total Privacy 5 (Retail $29.95), and a squared Anti-Malware (Retail $39.95). A few others that I have picked up recently have been A One DVD Copy (Retail $39.95), A One DVD Ripper (Retail $39.98), Wondershare Flash Slideshow Builder (Retail $39.95), and iSpring Pro 3.5 (Retail $199).

This morning I also picked up StarBurn Network V.10 (Retail $495). So this morning I have been burning some CD's for the truck.

All of the above have been free, courtesy of Giveaway of the Day. A big thanks goes out to GOTD.

In addition I have been able once again to play around with Google Earth, WorldWide Telescope, and World Wind 1.4. These are all free downloads also. Yea!!!
