Feliz Cumpleaños Quiana Gonzales - Lamento llegar tarde.

Tal vez a ella puedan ayudar.

Meredith is my niece that lives in the Houston area. Her daughter, Quiana had her birthday several weeks ago and I was unable to attend. Meredith recently sent me several pictures from the party and I wanted to share a few with all of you. Since I was not there I didn't know the names of all of the people there, but I will do my best.

I also want to apologize right now if my Spanish isn't quite right. I never took Spanish formally, so it is kind of hit and miss here. Perhaps Meredith will help out. Meredith teaches Bilingual Kindergarten in the Houston area.

Quiana está lista para que el partido comenzó. Meredith leer un cuento a Quiana.

Quiana is ready to get the party started. Meredith takes a break and reads to Quiana and one of the party goers.

Quiana recibe ayuda de su prima. Usted puede decirle que ella estaba emocionada. Mírala grande, hermosa sonrisa.

Above it looks like Quiana is getting a little help from her cousin with something. You can tell she was excited. Look at her beautiful smile.

Quiana está listo para su tarta. El tema fue parte My Little Pony. Había muchos de maravillosos regalos para Quiana. Quiana recibido muchas bastante vestidos, muñecas, play-Doh y My Little Pony.

It looks like it is cake time and Quiana is ready for her fair share. My Little Pony was the theme of the party. There were lots of wonderful presents for Quiana. A few of the gifts she received were some pretty dresses, dolls, Play-Doh, and My Little Pony.

Lo mejor de todo cateres Ninfa's de la fiesta. Yo entiendo que estos dos señores preparado un magnífico comida para los invitados. Ellos prepararon fajitas.

Best of all though, the party was catered by Ninfa's. I understand that these two gentlemen prepared a terrific fajita meal for Quiana and the other party guests.

Se trata de Kira y Janna. Ellos son Meredith y Quiana del sobrinas. Se trata de Tomas. Él es Kira's papá. Kari es la madre de Kira. Kari no asistió a la fiesta.

This is a picture of Janna, one of nieces from Houston She is holding Kira. Kira is Janna's sister's daughter. Kira's mom is Kari. I guess Kari could not go since I didn't see a picture of her. But her husband, Thomas was there to help keep up with Kira.

Esta es una foto de Víctor y Meredith. Víctor es el marido de Meredith. Y él es el papá de Quiana. Ambos parecen muy cansado después de la fiesta. Se veía como una gran fiesta. Lamento que no hemos podido ir.

The picture above is Victor and Meredith. Victor is Meredith's husband and Quiana's dad. They both look very tired after the party. I can tell that it was a great party and am truly sorry that we were not able to go. While Mom and Dad look tired and relieved to have the happy event over, Quiana and her guest look like they could go on forever.

A Big Day For Jessica

Yesterday was a big day at the house. It wasn' exactly a "Big Ball In Cowtown" as sung by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, but it was a big day nonetheless. It was Jessica's birthday. And in 2 weeks it will be Scott's birthday. I have a few pictures below of the going's on.

Jace watches as Jessica opens her presents. That's Dad, Scott, sitting just past Jessica.

Debra and Ray Barone even stopped by to wish Jessica a Happy Birthday. Ray was very upset because he left Jessica's present back at Marie's. You can see that Debra is not pleased with this development.
A picture of the Birthday Cookie for Jessica and Scott. Jace had a good time as well as a good dose of sun earlier in the day. He spent the day with Pa-Paw Carl. They took their slingshots and hunted Bigfoot yesterday in the woods near Carl's house. Apparently Bigfoot is still alive and well because Jace did not report bagging the big bad boy.

Happy Birthday Jessica! We all hope you had a good one.

Leap Day 2008

So today is Leap Day. We get an extra day this year to do all the fun stuff we like to do. Like listen to political ads?? Why is it that Leap Year is always during an election. That means we have to put up with all this nonsense an extra day. And it certainly didn't help this year, what with all the campaigns and such getting an unreal start on the process.
Seriously, Leap Year has it's good side and it's bad side. Just think. If you are born on Leap Day do you only get to celebrate every four years. Boy that stinks. Imagine, you be like 60 years old by the time you were 15 and could learn to drive. Even going to school' you would be like 25 years old before you were 5 and able to go to kindergarten. (I suppose I shouldn't say much. I'm 52 and am still in kindergarten. And, I just got promoted this year. I had been in Pre-Kindergten.) If you get married on Leap Day does that mean you celebrate your anniversary every four years? I'm not sure if that would make it easier to remember or easier to forget, what with being every four years and all.
At any rate, Have A Great Leap Day! Ribbet, Ribbet!!!!

Six Down and Lookin' For Seven

Yesterday was the big day. Jace had his b-day. Number six and lookin' for more. Jace had a pretty busy day at school since it was his birthday. You know the drill; hat, songs, special chair, and all that sort of stuff. Then last night he came over for cake and presents. Jace was impatient about his presents. He wanted to open them but had to wait since his Dad left something at the house. Scott got what he needed and got back and then Jace was able to tear in to the presents. I think the presents were more important than the cake. He liked it all though. Jess got him a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake. Jace blew out the candles in one try and then it was time to eat cake. I don't know why it was done in this order, but after cake we went to Chuck E. Cheese for pizza and games. That was fun too.

I have a slide show of some of the pictures below. Have a look.

B-Day, Here We Come

Chris and I went shopping last night for Jace's birthday. The big day is Thursday, February 7. He will be 6.

We were at Wal-Mart. My goodness what toys they have. Jace likes cars and dinosaurs and dragons and most anything else. He doesn't like dolls though. But he does like GI Joe. GI Joe is not a doll; it is an action figure.

We looked at dragons and decided on one from Fisher-Price. It was an Imaginext Adventures Dragon. Then we saw a different toy in the Imaginext Dinosaur line called Mega T-Rex. The moment I saw I thought, "Cool!" This thing is really neat. There is a button on the tail that makes the dinosaur move and roar. It reminds me of a small animatronic figure from a tiny Disney World. Had to get it. Got it. Put the dragon back. It wasn't as cool as the dinosaur. Now the dinosaur resides in our closet until the big day. There are a few other things in the closet for him too. Those are surprises. His Mom has told him that he's going to just get clothes for his B-Day since he got so many toys at Christmas. I thought about getting him some underwear and telling him they were character building. I wimped out and went with the dinosaur. Chris was glad. Jace will be more ecstatic.

OC Does Not Mean Orange County

Sorry for the late post. Had to take Chris for lab work this morning.

Chris has been concerned about her blood pressure lately. She made an appointment with the doctor for yesterday. While waiting in the examining room with her I looked at the magazines . I complained about the selection of magazines being lousy. Later I thought, "Why am I looking at these? Sick people have looked at these and picked them up and coughed and held them and sneezed and flipped through them. YUCK!!" I didn't pick up the magazines and look at them any more. I didn't complain about them either. I just sat and waited with Chris. Finally the doctor came in. He began to ask Chris why she was there. After relating her concerns about the blood pressure the doctor jots down some notes. He begins to take her vital signs and asks about family history. Among other things Chris said, "My grandfather sort of died from heart problems." I snickered and asked, "How do you sort of die?" I don't think the doctor said anything.

Continuing the examination the doctor began to look at Chris' hands. He asked why they were so dry. Chris explained that she washes them a lot. He began to to talk about the effect that soaps can have on skin and THEN, he asks Chris about obsessive-compulsive disorder. Chris and I look at each other. I giggle quietly to myself and think, "Gee doc, I hope you don't ask me about it. I'd hate to tell you some of the things I do!"

The doctor set up some other tests for Chris. One was a fasting blood test. That is what we went for this morning. While waiting in the lab area I overheard the lab tech talking with another patient. They were talking about birthdays and anniversaries. The lab tech said, "I remember my anniversary because it is on the same day as the birthday of my first girlfriend. That makes it easy to remember." OK! The other people in the waiting area heard this and we all looked at each other with puzzled looks. I just hope his first girlfriend is the wife he has now. I then looked at Chris and told her that I remember our anniversary because it is our anniversary.
