Things that occur in my world; or maybe just in my mind, that may or may not be of interest to you. Sometimes these thoughts revolve around my perception of the world; sometimes not. I just try to have fun and enjoy my time. Welcome to my world as I perceive it. An added plus is that I will share my Notgeld Collection occasionally.

Now I Know!
Since we had the time change to Daylight Saving Time I slept late this morning. When I got up I began looking for the cats. They were all scattered throughout the house; having been up to mischief no doubt.
I found Mr. Puss in the washroom.
He was looking in the washer. I wondered why, so I Looked a little closer.
That's when I began to see what he was looking at.
It appears that the cards from his wild poker game last night were in the wash. How the cards got in the wash is any one's guess. I didn't even know he played cards; let alone doing the wash.
Now that I know what he and the other cats do on their Saturday nights, I just wonder what happened to the "kitty".

My World, My Coins; My World Coins
I remember playing with and sorting out these coins when I was very young. I am sure that these were my early days of developing my OC disorder. I would sit on the floor and sort according to size, composition (I was really sorting by color), numbers, etc. As I grew older I would sort by value, location, etc.
The bulk of the coins were from the Deutsches Reich with some Notgeld and Kleingeld issues from the post WWI era thrown in. There were also a few coins from surrounding European countries, though I never really paid much attention to them.
As time passed and I grew older the coins took a backseat to other passions and interests. After getting married I would occasionally take them out and look at them and reminisce. As my own children grew older I would share my stories of the coins with them. But then the coins would soon be put away and forgotten about for another long period.
Then I started posting and talking about my Notgeld collection. While searching the Notgeld I remembered the coins. I took them out and started poring over them once again. I was amazed at what I found. There were several silver coins mixed in with the assorted copper, bronze, aluminum, and steel coins. The following is a list of the more significant finds:
- Russia 1900 50 Kopeks (Nicholas II)
- Russia 1913 15 Kopeks (Nicholas II)
- Sweden 1906 1 Krona
- Deutsches Reich 1908 1/2 Mark
- Deutsches Reich 1916 1/2 Mark
- Canada 1911 25 cents
- Australia 1943 6 Pence
- 1950 Mexico 25 Centavos
The following 2 websites were indispensable in researching these coins. Please visit them if you ever have the need.

Here is another display of Notgeld. This selection of four notes seems rather bland and uninviting. That is until I translated the inscription. It appears to be a set of notes commemorating a fair of some sort.
The inscription reads "Zahlten Sie für diesen Erinnerungsschein anläßlich der Mitteldeutschen Notgeldausstellung u. Messe in Erfurt am 13-15 Mai 1922"
A rough translation is, "You paid certificate for these memories on the occasion of the central German need money display and fair in Erfurt at the 13-15 May 1922."
I said it was rough, perhaps very rough. If there is anyone out there that can provide a better translation I would appreciate it. You can use the "Contact Me" link in the sidebar or the "Comment" link at the end of the post.
These examples were made in Erfurt by Otto Richter Li. Co.. The artwork was by Robert Sandrock, Erfurt. I suppose he was an artist of the period.
Translation tools used were SDL/FreeTranslation.com.
